Environmental Learning Center in Vero Beach, Florida

ELC-ECOFest

March 6, 2016

It was a really great day at The Environmental Learning Center.
I chose an area around the pond where the children
were catching things in their nets.

They kept coming over now and then to check on the progress of my painting.
They thought I was awesome.  It was fun getting all those complements
from grateful little children.

One of the boys said "I WANT TO BUY THAT PAINTING"
I told him to go and tell his mom and if she wanted to come and speak with me
about the purchase that we could come up with a deal.
I let the young man buy the painting for $ 20.00. lol.
The canvas cost $ 10.00 but the boys excitement was PRICELESS.

Just got an email from them.  He is so happy.  I told him I was
excited for him because he was getting an original Peni Baker.  lol.
I signed it in front of him but
the really cool thing was I told him to go grab a net
and get into the water with the other kids and I would paint him
into the painting.
He is the one in the green shirt.

So Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to have my friends and neighbors stop by for this pleasant event.
I'm not sure how much

Probably $ 10.00 to $ 12.00 each  A bit more for the bigger ones.
Various sizes range from 2" x 4" - 4" x 4" -  3" x 5"
They were so much fun to do.
They are all beautifully backed with a gold or silver glitter paper backing.

A Wonderful Peaceful Thing To Do

Sondra's Jacaranda Flowers

There was a wonderful women at my art club who had a long term illness
of breast cancer.
She was there learning to paint in one of the clubs painting classes.
Sadly, she was unable to finished this beautiful painting she had started.
After she passed away her husband asked if someone in
the art club might finish it.
A few artist worked on it and found it too emotionally difficult to work on so . . .
when they asked if I would like to give it a try, I said "sure".
I enjoyed doing it so much.  I think it is so beautiful.
Her husband Ed told me that I could use it
in my art portfolio.
The original has Sondra's signature on it but this one doesn't

Enjoy!

"Florida Blue"

I don't usually fall in love right away with my paintings.  It usually takes a while.
But this one takes the cake.
I have a lot of detail to accomplish in this painting before I am finished with it but
I sure do love it already.
I hope you enjoy it half as much as I do.

Enjoy!

"Florida Cracker"

Hi everyone!

This blog is about a very special painting.

As some of you know, I had the opportunity to spend a little time
in the Tallahassee area in May of 2011.
While I was driving around in the town where our brother Joey lived,
I came upon a little shack of a cottage in the woods.
It is located right there on main street where you get off of Interstate 10
going into Joey's little town of Loyd, Florida.
For some reason I was completely taken with this little falling down shack.
I went back to it three times in two trips to Tallahassee
and took photos each time.
I suppose it was my way of having a little piece of my brother Joey
without having to go back to his house again.
I did go to Joey's house once during that visit to Tallahassee.
After Betti and Tim asked me to go back again and try to find our
sister n law, I found it too painful for me to return.
So instead I drove around looking for very old houses to photograph.
And of course to find a few more memories of some of my times
spent with Joey in Lloyd before he died.
This one really struck me.  Like I said, I went back three times
for photographs
Well . . .Some of you know that I currently spend a great deal
of my time painting pictures.
This little shack was a Must to paint and because it took me a very long time to complete  I am so ancious and proud, I could go no longer without sharing my story with all of you.
I have received so much personal enjoyment in painting this  shack.
I hope that you all can enjoy it a little as well.
To me it will always be this little shack I stumbled across while looking for memories of my time spent with my brother Joey.
Enjoy!!!
Contender in the "Art by the Sea" show in January 2013

Three trips and wonderful photos
It's me.
As it stands in real life.

Look very close in the painting and you will see the bottle.

I couldn't help it.  I had to take it.

There was no evidence of the house ever having had indoor plumbing or electric of any kind
and the wall paper was hanging everywhere.  The floors were rotted out.  On my second trip back I took the wine bottle out of the window and have it in my kitchen window.  Still unwashed on the inside.
I had removed another really cool piece of wall paper with palm trees on it but walked off without it.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!

"Catching Up"

Finally!!!!!!!
Do to family illness this is my first post since  October 2011.
So glad to be back!!!
It looks like I might be catching up and getting a bit of my  painting
back on track.
I try hard to do "first things first"
It's exciting starting a new painting so it's really difficult
to stick to the "first things first"  philosophy.
Remember the beautiful tiny little girl I started painting a while back?  Elana.
She and her three brothers, Christian Carson and Price
would have been finished already but it took at least three months
to finish the Christmas Mural.  Not complaining mind you.  And other things.

The six 2" x 2" canvases are soon to be finished paintings I'm doing for a donation.
and the photo of the beautiful young women is my latest commission.
I'm so excited to be back painting again.
Enjoy!  and watch  do for my
next post.
