Environmental Learning Center in Vero Beach, Florida

ELC-ECOFest

March 6, 2016

It was a really great day at The Environmental Learning Center.
I chose an area around the pond where the children
were catching things in their nets.

They kept coming over now and then to check on the progress of my painting.
They thought I was awesome.  It was fun getting all those complements
from grateful little children.

One of the boys said "I WANT TO BUY THAT PAINTING"
I told him to go and tell his mom and if she wanted to come and speak with me
about the purchase that we could come up with a deal.
I let the young man buy the painting for $ 20.00. lol.
The canvas cost $ 10.00 but the boys excitement was PRICELESS.

Just got an email from them.  He is so happy.  I told him I was
excited for him because he was getting an original Peni Baker.  lol.
I signed it in front of him but
the really cool thing was I told him to go grab a net
and get into the water with the other kids and I would paint him
into the painting.
He is the one in the green shirt.

So Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas Mini's 2015

Hi Everyone!

It's that exciting time of year again when my entire art club
paints their little mini's for our art club fundraiser.  They are wonderful little Christmas tree ornaments or a beautiful painting for your wall.
100% of the proceeds will be going to our local ecumenical food pantry.
This year I painted 12.  A sale and reception will be held at

1245 main St. Sebastian, Florida on November 19, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00.

I would love to have my friends and neighbors stop by for this pleasant event.
I'm not sure how much
they are going for this year.
Probably $ 10.00 to $ 12.00 each  A bit more for the bigger ones.
Various sizes range from 2" x 4" - 4" x 4" -  3" x 5"
They were so much fun to do.
They are all beautifully backed with a gold or silver glitter paper backing.
And delightful gold or silver chain or beaded hangers as shown in my first picture.

"Christmas Mini Paintings for 2014"

I had so much fun painting my 10 tiny paintings to be used for Christmas tree ornaments.   100% of the proceeds go to our Ecumenical Food Pantry in Fellsmere.

Because of our heartfelt work quite a few people will have full tummies this year.

This is a project I intend to participate in every year.

So get you order in early for next year.

It is a very enjoyable project.

  They are 4" x 4"  and 3" x 5" acrylic on canvas panels.

Backings and ribbon loops are added when completed.

They turned out so well.

I'll take photos Saturday morning at the art show

where the tree will be standing

and filled with little Christmas Mini's.

Enjoy!

"Florida Blue"

I don't usually fall in love right away with my paintings.  It usually takes a while.
But this one takes the cake.
I have a lot of detail to accomplish in this painting before I am finished with it but
I sure do love it already.
I hope you enjoy it half as much as I do.

Enjoy!

"Florida Cracker"

Hi everyone!

This blog is about a very special painting.

As some of you know, I had the opportunity to spend a little time
in the Tallahassee area in May of 2011.
While I was driving around in the town where our brother Joey lived,
I came upon a little shack of a cottage in the woods.
It is located right there on main street where you get off of Interstate 10
going into Joey's little town of Loyd, Florida.
For some reason I was completely taken with this little falling down shack.
I went back to it three times in two trips to Tallahassee
and took photos each time.
I suppose it was my way of having a little piece of my brother Joey
without having to go back to his house again.
I did go to Joey's house once during that visit to Tallahassee.
After Betti and Tim asked me to go back again and try to find our
sister n law, I found it too painful for me to return.
So instead I drove around looking for very old houses to photograph.
And of course to find a few more memories of some of my times
spent with Joey in Lloyd before he died.
This one really struck me.  Like I said, I went back three times
for photographs
Well . . .Some of you know that I currently spend a great deal
of my time painting pictures.
This little shack was a Must to paint and because it took me a very long time to complete  I am so ancious and proud, I could go no longer without sharing my story with all of you.
I have received so much personal enjoyment in painting this  shack.
I hope that you all can enjoy it a little as well.
To me it will always be this little shack I stumbled across while looking for memories of my time spent with my brother Joey.
Enjoy!!!
Contender in the "Art by the Sea" show in January 2013

Three trips and wonderful photos
It's me.
As it stands in real life.

Look very close in the painting and you will see the bottle.

I couldn't help it.  I had to take it.

There was no evidence of the house ever having had indoor plumbing or electric of any kind
and the wall paper was hanging everywhere.  The floors were rotted out.  On my second trip back I took the wine bottle out of the window and have it in my kitchen window.  Still unwashed on the inside.
I had removed another really cool piece of wall paper with palm trees on it but walked off without it.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Three hour paint challenge at the Sebastian River Art Club

Our great host Judy Burgarella pulled it off today
encouraging a lot of us to push our brushes to
complete a painting in three hours.
A few of us were successful!

Judy Burgarella herself
with her painted cowboy.
She really gets into her painting doesn't she?

 Jeanne Dumphey always does a
beautiful job and can't wait to see
this one completed.

Susie Lavender is working on this delightful
Mommy and Babies.  It will be wonderful
when completed.

Patti Goins does the most wonderful
and enchanting work with her beautiful
 oranges and bright intense detail.

And Mary Rahmig does these perfect
water color paintings.
Terry Pate has advanced so well with
her oil paintings that she can paint
anything she decides she wants to
and has turned into a truly wonderful
Florida artist.

Of course my little paintings are always happening.

And Ann Emery, she paints anything she wants and always uses the prettiest and softest colors of anyone.

Kathleen Richter has opened up and proven to be
one of our best artist.  She is amazing us and is
providing us with pure delight.

I hope this blog will encourage more of you all to
come and join the three hour challenge
painters at our Sebastian River Art Club.
Any Tuesday and Thursday
from 11:00am to 3:00 pm
Enjoy!
